"Like music and art, love of nature is a common language that can transcend political or social boundaries." ~ Jimmy Carter

#quote #park #lake

View of a park next to a lake with long shadows from the trees on the mown lawn and across the bike path that runs alongside the park. A large metal sculpture stands in the distance near the lake and a bus stop sign between the bike path and the street with a cloudless blue sky above. A soccer goal net is on the right side of the view and a partial view of a parking lot on the left side.

A quiet afternoon at the river.

Yarra River Trail, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

A photograph shot at a distance across a gently rippled river. On the other side of the river on the stone-brick river bank is an asphalt trail with three bicycle riders evenly spaced riding towards the right, with a younger rider leading at the front on the right. Cutting diagonally from the centre left to the middle-upper right is another asphalt trail which joins on (at the lower left), and there is a pedestrian walking down this trail. The pedestrian is positioned in the photograph between the centre and right-most cyclist, and the pedestrian's feet are at about the chest-level of the riders. The rest of the land is evenly-coloured green grass. There is a sign to the left of the left-most cyclist that says "CAPITAL HILL TRAIL." At the top of the grassed area is a road, with poles and parked cars. There is another trail at the road level with some more pedestrians on the left of the frame. In the background are trees with muted-colour leaves and a gentle dirt hillside.

Photograph of the infamous Luna Park at golden hour showing its reflections and the sunset sky in the harbour / harbor. I captured this image towards the end of the festivities of the Australian Navy Centenary in October, 2013.

Golden hour can have so much power and make photographs look seemingly different to their normal daytime view. I await this time of day for the amazing light/glow and hue that the sun offers our planet Earth whilst setting.

[From Wikipedia]
Luna Park Sydney (originally Luna Park Milsons Point, also known as Sydney's Luna Park) is an amusement park located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Luna Park is located at Milsons Point, on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour.

Luna Park is one of two amusement parks in the world that are protected by government legislation; several of the buildings on the site are also listed on the Register of the National Estate and the NSW State Heritage Register. The park has been utilised as a filming location for several movies and television shows.

What a beautiful morning at the lake. But the sun felt already hot before 8 am. Kengo did a great job walking, sniffing, eating grass and whatnot. He rested only once.

This tree is no more, it has ceased to be, it has moved on, it has passed away, it is a late tree.

A large willow tree by the water. Water can be made out between twigs and greenery. In front of the lush tree is a tree trunk of a dead tree that has recently been striped of its branches, so recently that it still has its bark. Everything is sunlit and a blue sky above.

transitioning from summer to autumn

Some recent photos from my fotowalks. There is no coherent story, but I like these. Now it's autumn. Let's see how that will affect my photography.

Some pretty ducks at the lake today.

Playing with framing up the image this time, just for something different. I think I like it - I might do it occasionally.

Caulfield Park, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

A close-up photograph of the head of a pacific black duck. It's head is in the centre of the shot. It has tan and black feathering, with alternating horizontal stripes. The top of its head is made up of black feathers, followed by tan and black feather stripes with a black feather stripe cutting through its eyeline, finally finishing with tan feathers under its head, along its neckline. From the side of its head running down its back is mottled tan and black feathers interleaved. Its beak is a black-ish colour but is slightly lighter than its black feathers. It has a brown eye with a black pupil. The image is square, and the beak is only partially visible in the photo. In the background is the water of the lake that the duck is in. Ripples are visible on the water emanating from where the duck's body is. The duck has a number of droplets of water on the top of its head.

The awakening of autumn 🍂

Our earth takes a heavy pause after this drastic summer for the cool fall time. The sun feels like a gift again as it turns our landscape gold.
